How to Save Money While Shopping Online

There is almost no better way to save money and sanity than to do your shopping online. You don't need to leave your home, there are vast quantities, competitors are a click away, no lines to stand in, and the things you are shopping for arrive on your door step a few days later. When we shop online, we want to be sure that we save as much money as we possibly can. I will share with you some excellent ways to save money while shopping online.

1. Join a coupon savings site such as big crumbs. It's free to join and will give you cash back at almost any store that you can shop at! Usually the savings are at least between 2-15% off your purchase when you shop online using a coupon money savings site.

2. Wait for periods when stores are running specials such as free shipping, or sales on things that you need. Free shipping can save you usually around $8 off your online purchases.

3. Look for coupon codes. Using the coupon savings site is above and beyond any coupon codes that you can use. The coupon savings sites like Big Crumbs simply are kick back commissions to you (Big crumbs gets a commission for a store referral and they kick a portion back to you). You can still use any coupon code with your transaction. Almost every store that you can shop at online will have some type of coupon code running which will help you save money.

4. Always try to pay with your online shopping purchases with cash back credit cards. Often you can get an additional 2% off your purchase when you use a cash back credit card. This is above and beyond all other discounts and promotions and its run strictly through your credit card company.

5. Try to use online stores that have membership cards and sign up for their membership programs. Sometimes they send you online store money that you can shop with. This money works above and beyond all other discounts.

I'll give you an example of just how much following these steps can help you save money while shopping online. This was a real transaction that I did when I shopped online for shoes for my 5 children and 2 adults. I bought only 1 pair of clearance shoes.

The total price was to $153 before any discounts.

1) Big crumbs had 9.7% cash back.
2) I had a coupon code for 5% off.
3) I had "Famous Footwear" cash in the amount of $15 off.
4) They had Free Shipping (Usually 8 Bucks).
5) I paid with a 2% off cash back credit card.

Total = 153
1) X .903 = 138.16 (Savings of $14.84 from step 1)
2) X .95 = 131.52 (Savings of $6.64 from step 2)
3) - $15 = 116.52 (Savings of $15 from frequent shopper money)
4) - $8 = 108.53 (bonus free shipping savings of $8)
5) X .98 = 106.35 (Cash back credit card savings)

Total Savings $153 - $106.35 = $46.64

As you can see you can save a lot of money while shopping online. I bought 5 pairs of quality shoes for my children and 2 adults (all name brand & high quality) for $106.35.
